The Department of Information Security is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the university’s information systems, networks, and applications, ensuring protection from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Define and update policies and rules for the use of information systems, ensuring their dissemination and enforcement.

Design, operate, and maintain IT security systems across all university locations.

Ensure the security of information systems, servers, and networks by conducting tests and audits, and providing recommendations to fix security vulnerabilities.

Promote security awareness among users, issue alerts about potential risks, and recommend protective software and systems to mitigate all types of threats.

Stay updated with the latest technologies and potential risks in information security, applying necessary security updates.

Investigate and monitor hacking incidents, coordinating with relevant internal and external entities.

Monitor the performance of IT security systems and resolve related issues as they arise.

Ensure the security of databases, networks, servers, and applications across Kuwait University.

Manage the Active Directory (AD) and enforce essential security policies, including deploying security applications and updates on all university-owned devices.

Collaborate with other sections within the Center to implement assigned projects efficiently.

Conduct feasibility studies on the latest security technologies, providing detailed assessments of their effectiveness and relevance to university operations.

Develop timelines for executing the section’s projects, ensuring alignment with the Center's general plan.

Prepare the section’s annual operational plan, ensuring it aligns with the proposed budget and strategic objectives, and oversee its implementation after approval.

Contribute to the preparation of tender documents for new projects and evaluate technical proposals to select the best solution.

Execute all tasks related to information security, ensuring the university’s systems are protected from threats.
