Department of Databases

The Database Department supervises the technical configuration servers for information systems at Kuwait University, which include:

  • Database Servers.

  • Information Systems Application Servers.

  • Web Application Servers.

  • User Account Directory Systems, Identity Management, and Access Control Servers.

  • Database and Application Monitoring Systems Servers.

     

The supervision of these technical configurations involves the following tasks:

  1. Establishing and evaluating strategies and technical standards related to server systems.

  2. Creating, setting up, maintaining, and upgrading system software.

  3. Monitoring the performance of information systems and executing technical measures to enhance performance.

  4. Planning for the future of server systems to ensure capacity for the increasing number of users.

  5. Defining integration procedures between various application servers, databases, and user directories according to technical standards.

  6. Designing and implementing database architectures for the center's developed applications.

  7. Replicating databases and applications across testing, production, and development environments.

  8. Setting up backup and recovery programs.

  9. System recovery operations to overcome system failures.

  10. Defining, implementing, and evaluating procedures to ensure the integrity, synchronization, and compatibility of shared data across different systems.

  11. Controlling user account permissions.

  12. Providing technical consultation to analysts and programmers to ensure system performance, integrity, and security.

  13. Implementing security protocols and addressing vulnerabilities based on notifications from the parent company.

  14. Loading and applying updates and patches to systems as required.

  15. Collaborating with the parent company’s technical support to analyze critical issues and implement solutions.
